- Description: Our upcoming n8n workflow template turns a Google Sheets URL list into a manageable queue for Lite website assessments. Process Pending rows, save audit data back to the sheet, and open individual scan reports when needed.
- Author: GEO Search Leads

We are introducing an n8n workflow template that connects Google Sheets with **GEO Search Leads** for repeatable website assessments. Built for agencies, freelancers, and marketing teams, it provides a practical starting point for processing a URL list one website at a time, recording Lite scan results in the same spreadsheet, and keeping individual reports within reach.

You can import it into your own n8n environment [using our official n8n node](https://n8n.io/integrations/geo-search-leads/), connect the required accounts, and configure the spreadsheet mappings for your workflow.

## Turn a Spreadsheet into a Website Audit Queue with This n8n SEO Template

The workflow begins manually and reads rows from a selected Google Sheet. It evaluates the value in each row's **Status** field. Only rows set to `Pending` move forward to the scan step, while all other rows are skipped.

That status-based approach gives you a simple way to control a batch without removing URLs from the sheet. Add a website, mark it Pending when you want it assessed, and use the resulting status to distinguish completed work from URLs that still need attention. The condition is case-sensitive, so `Pending` must be entered consistently.

For each successful Lite scan, the workflow can write the following values back to the corresponding row:

- **Status:** `Completed`
- **GEO Score:** the total score returned by the scan
- **Scan ID:** the identifier for that assessment
- **Dashboard Scan URL:** a direct link to the individual scan

This structure keeps the original URL list, processing status, and high-level assessment data together. It can be useful when you need a working queue for SEO prospect research, client onboarding, bulk website assessments, or deciding which sites warrant a closer review.

A row's status determines whether it is processed again. That means a row may retain values from an earlier assessment, but it will only enter the current workflow when its Status is set to Pending.

## What the Lite scan returns

The template uses the **Run Lite Scan** operation. [Lite scans are free](https://blog.geosearchleads.com/free-website-rescans-subpage-scans-24-hours/), so no credits are consumed like a Full scan.

The response includes a total **GEO Score** and individual category scores for website assessment signals, such as structured data, semantic HTML, internal linking, and machine readability. Structured data is code that helps describe page content in a machine-readable format. Semantic HTML uses meaningful HTML elements to communicate the structure and purpose of content.

You can use the supplied total-score mapping as a starting point, then map additional returned fields into your spreadsheet if those category-level signals are relevant to your process. For example, a team may keep the total score in its primary queue while adding selected category columns for a more detailed triage view.

A Lite score assesses website signals relevant to GEO. It does **not** measure whether a brand has actually been mentioned or appeared in AI-generated answers. The workflow is therefore a structured assessment process, not a complete replacement for every type of SEO audit or a measure of AI answer visibility.

## How the n8n workflow handles each website

The scan node receives the website address dynamically from the current spreadsheet row. Successful and failed requests follow separate outputs, allowing the workflow to update completed work differently from failed work.

A **Wait** node sets the pause before the next website is processed. You choose the pause that fits your workflow. Because the template starts manually, you can test and review a defined set of Pending rows before deciding whether to adapt the workflow for scheduled use later.

![Perform GEO Scan node in n8n configured for a Lite scan using the website URL from the current spreadsheet row](https://blog.geosearchleads.com/content/images/2026/11/the-perform-geo-scan-node-in-n8n-connected-to-a-geo-search-leads-account-and-configured-with-the-run.webp)

The response includes the scan ID, website URL, total score, category scores, and timestamps. The separate error output can be connected to the failure-logging branch, so unsuccessful requests can be recorded in the spreadsheet rather than left unaccounted for.

## Set up the Google Sheets audit workflow

Download the template below, and follow these steps to configure it in n8n.

1. Find the n8n integration listing, then open the Google Sheets audit workflow template in your n8n environment. Confirm that the relevant node is installed and available.
2. Prepare a Google Sheet with these column headers: `Website URL`, `Status`, `GEO Score`, `Scan ID`, and `Dashboard Scan URL`.
3. Add the websites you want to assess in the **Website URL** column. Set **Status** to `Pending` for every row that should be processed. The status check is case-sensitive.
4. Connect your Google Sheets credentials. In the read node and both spreadsheet update nodes, select the spreadsheet and worksheet you want the workflow to use.
5. Open **Perform GEO Scan**, connect your account, and select **Run Lite Scan**. Map the website input to the **Website URL** field from the current spreadsheet row.
6. Configure **Update URL Audit Results** to update the matching row. Set Status to `Completed`, map `scores.total` to **GEO Score**, map `id` to **Scan ID**, and build the dashboard URL with `https://app.geosearchleads.com/scans/` followed by the returned scan ID.

1. Keep URL formatting consistent when matching results to the original row. Scan responses may normalize a URL, such as by adding a trailing slash, so confirm that the update reaches the intended website row.
2. Configure **Log Failed URL Audit in Sheets** to identify the original row and record a failed status. If useful, add an error column to preserve error information.
3. Set the **Wait** node to the pause you prefer between processed websites.
4. Click **Execute workflow** to test a few Pending rows. Verify that scores, scan IDs, dashboard links, and statuses are written to the correct rows.
5. Open a Dashboard Scan URL from Google Sheets when you want to inspect the corresponding scan in more detail.

## Where this workflow fits

The template is designed around a spreadsheet-led process rather than a one-off audit. That makes it useful when a team already tracks websites in Google Sheets and wants scan data returned to the same operational list.

For prospect research, you can prepare a list of potential client sites and process only the rows marked Pending. For onboarding, you can use the queue to organize initial website assessments before a deeper review. For existing audit work, the score, scan ID, and report link create a compact handoff point: the sheet shows what has been processed, and the direct link takes you to the individual assessment when further investigation is needed.

If you later adapt the workflow to run on a schedule, use appropriate status handling so completed rows are not repeatedly processed.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What does this n8n template automate?

The template automates Lite website assessments from a Google Sheets URL list. It reads rows marked Pending, sends each eligible website to the Lite scan operation, and writes selected successful results back to the matching spreadsheet row. It also includes a separate branch for recording failed scans in Google Sheets.

### Which spreadsheet columns are required?

The supplied workflow uses `Website URL`, `Status`, `GEO Score`, `Scan ID`, and `Dashboard Scan URL` headers. Website URL provides the scan input, while Status controls whether a row is processed. The result columns store the total score, returned scan identifier, and a direct link to the individual assessment.

### Do I need a paid Full scan to use this workflow?

No. The workflow uses free Lite scans, and a paid Full scan is not required. Lite scans return a total score and category scores for website assessment signals, which you can map into Google Sheets according to the needs of your workflow.

### What does a Lite GEO score measure?

A Lite score assesses website signals relevant to GEO, including signals such as structured data, semantic HTML, internal linking, and machine readability. It does not measure actual brand mentions or appearances in AI-generated answers, so it should not be treated as a direct measurement of AI answer visibility.

### Why is consistent URL formatting important?

Consistent formatting helps the spreadsheet update node match scan results to the original website row. A scan response may normalize a URL, for example by adding a trailing slash. Test a small number of Pending rows first to confirm that the score, scan ID, dashboard link, and status are written to the intended rows.

### Can the workflow run automatically on a schedule?

The supplied template starts manually. You can adapt it to run on a schedule later, but appropriate status handling is needed to avoid repeatedly processing the same rows. The initial workflow uses the Status field to process only rows set to Pending.

## Conclusion

This workflow template gives teams a structured way to move from a Google Sheets website list to recorded Lite assessment data without losing the spreadsheet-based process they already use. By processing Pending rows, saving the key scan fields, logging failures, and linking back to individual reports, it supports a more organized starting point for website research, onboarding, and audit prioritization.
